Bucker Jungmeister
1/4 scale
Engine: O.S.90 FSR
Wingspan; 5ft 6in.
Weight: 11lb.
A Dave Platt kit, with many structural modifications.
The model represents a Luftwaffe advanced trainer of the late 1930s.
Structure: Fuselage is a sheet balsa box with sub-formers and mahogany stringers, the whole being fabric covered. Wings have hardwood spars and 1/8in balsa sheet ribs. Tailplane and fin scratchbuilt as the kit originals are too heavy. Fabric covering is doped nylon. The undercarriage is my own design, fully sprung as the full-size, made from brass and steel tubes with fabric covered balsa framed fairings.
Flying characteristics: The O.S.90 gives this model power to spare, allowing it to perform aerobatics
with ease. Tremendous rate of climb and excellent response to all controls.
First flown in August 2000. Won 5th place in standoff scale at Woodvale 2000.
Current status: flyable, but unfinished as regards scale details. Needs the cockpit completing, proper rigging wires and much surface detail and markings.
